Ministers are people called through baptism to serve God and others. It is a fulfilling, generous
way to use our time and talents.

Some of these ministries are more focused on the inner life of the parish, while others relate
more to the needs of the community.

Qualifications for ministry are:
living a Christian life, assisting at Meetings, participation in retreats and a willingness to
continue education and formation in the ministry.

If you are interested in becoming involved in one or more of these ministries, please call St.
Mary's Rectory at 212-674-3266 or email us at:

Why Catholic:
This faith formation program has been established at St. Mary’s for the past two years.

Why Catholic? is a journey through the
Catechism designed to enable the layperson
to learn more about their faith. This is done
through small groups reflecting and sharing,
praying and taking greater ownership of their
faith meeting once a week for two 6-week
sessions. (during Advent and Lent
respectively)
Many Catholics have inherited their faith
without knowing why they are Catholic. Why
Catholic? invites  participants to a mature faith
by nourishing and strengthening men and
women to learn more about their faith in a
relaxed, familiar and comfortable setting
where reflection and discussion take place,
The sharing enables the participants to take
greater ownership of their faith and to move
from an inherited faith to a faith of deep
conviction.
